Activities

We welcome visitors, groups, schools and volunteers from all over the world throughout the year. Families, students, and nature lovers of all ages can participate in our conservation operations and learn about sea turtles from our local team of conservationists. Reservation is required because the activities are subject to natural conditions and availability of the local team; Contact us for any inquiries.

Releasing baby sea turtles is an unforgettable experience for all visiting La Tortuga Viva. Public releases are usually in the early morning when babies are newly hatched since they emerge in the late night or early morning.

Sanctuary Tours and School Visits

Discover our sea turtle sanctuary and receive a behind-the-scenes look at our incubation areas as well as learn the ins and outs of our fieldwork operations. Groups and all grade schools are interactively taught about sea turtle conservation and their natural ecosystems.

Virtual Sessions

La Tortuga Viva works to inspire people all over the world, and for all those who cannot visit us on site, we offer online sessions to educational groups, sharing our community-conservation model and the lessons we have learned. In 2021, we collaborated with Kinich School, West Ham C.E. Primary School and the Harper Adams Biological Society. If you’d like to organize a guest speaker event with our team, reach out!

Volunteer Group Visits

La Tortuga Viva hosts volunteer projects for groups and organizations interested in collaborating with us in volunteer projects. During a series of “retreats dedicated to caring for oneself and our planet”, 109World  helped us to create a new sanctuary and educational area. Now, 109World are lifelong friends of La Tortuga Viva and we welcome those with similar interests to reach out and collaborate with us!
