Meet The Team

La Tortuga Viva is a project that could not be achieved without the efforts of all the participants locally and remotely.

Sanctuary Assistants

Assistants directly participate in our conservation efforts and at times also help supervise the work. They become part of our local team and have a strong presence in our community, where they assist with social and environmental projects such as beach clean-ups, education programs, and public turtle releases.

 President: Eucebio Medrano Nuñez

Eucebio is one of the founding members of La Tortuga Viva and has been part of the team for over 10 years. Belonging to a seasoned family of goat & chicken farmers, Eucebio has been an active and committed member throughout his career, amassing a wealth of knowledge on sea turtle behavior & ecology. In 2020, Eucebio took over as president succeeding Héctor Maldonado Romero and Elias Vasquez Ramírez.
